Collector’s Note 

This photograph was made inside an abandoned coal-powered thermal power station deep in the Teruel Mountains of Aragón. Once part of the building’s working core, the room now stands open to the elements — a quiet stage where nature has begun to reclaim the abandoned infrastructure. What immediately drew my attention was the tree growing just beyond the broken grid of windows, its branches edging into the empty space as if reaching toward what industry left behind.

In black and white, the scene shifts from warmth to structure. The evening light carves out sharp contrasts along the dust and cracked concrete revealing the geometry that still anchors the room. Without colour, the focus turns to texture and shadow — the softened edges, the encroaching branches, and the slow, steady return of the outside world.

This image becomes a reflection on how time and nature reshape the places we abandon — a quiet dialogue between what once powered this space and the landscape now reclaiming it.
