Movement of water is central to all our lives — a quiet, constant force that sustains us, shapes our landscapes, and reveals the hidden infrastructure we rely upon every day.
This image was made just beyond the sluice gate of the reservoir near my home in Aragón, where controlled water flow transforms into a cascading concrete waterfall.
What begins as pure utility becomes something unexpectedly beautiful: a man-made structure softened by light, shadow, and motion. The stepped geometry, the engineered purpose, and the perpetual movement of water are all part of a theme that runs through my work — an exploration of the poetry found in functional, utilitarian architecture.
This photograph forms part of my ongoing series documenting the overlooked structures that shape rural and post-industrial Spain. Here, the technical and the natural meet, merging engineering with the quiet drama of flowing water.
