Reservoir Water Tower and Bridge, Caspe, Aragón, Spain — 2026

Rising from the surface of the reservoir, the water tower and access bridge stand as precise expressions of utility and control. Designed without ornament, the structure asserts itself through proportion, repetition, and material rather than gesture.

The stillness of the water and sky reduces the scene to its essential elements: vertical supports, horizontal spans, and the subtle tonal bands left by fluctuating water levels. These markings, accumulated over years, record cycles of use, drought, and replenishment, transforming the concrete into an unintentional archive of time.

Photographed on a fog-laden day and subtly edited to remove the horizon, the image isolates the structure from its surroundings. This deliberate reduction shifts the focus to balance and restraint, allowing the form to exist without distraction and emphasizing scale, geometry, and quiet permanence.

This work forms part of my ongoing exploration of rural infrastructure in Aragón — structures built to function rather than to be seen, yet capable of a stark, contemplative presence when observed in isolation. Printed as a limited edition using archival materials, the photograph invites sustained viewing and reflection on landscapes shaped by necessity rather than spectacle.
